Bernard Boulanger is best known for his decades of songwriting and lively guitar work with Vancouver's Swing Latin ensemble The Colorifics. His first and foremost love, however, has always been the acoustic guitar. His guitar playing is reminiscent of his musical heroes, from Johnny Marr to Nick Drake. His songwriting is inspired by earnest concern for our fragile relationship with nature, playful irreverence, self conscious longings, and romantic daydreams. In his voice one can hear the struggle between interminable sorrows of human experience and the wilful strength to transcend this fate. On stage with simply a guitar, Bernard is a captivating and confident solo performer.
