Jason Bienia with Rhys Fielding

Led by the multi-instrumentalist Jason Bienia, Small Opera delights audiences with his unique blend of traditional songwriting, jazz influenced harmonies, abstract lyricism, and warm melodies. Influenced by the likes of Iron and Wine, Father John Misty, and late 70s era Joni Mitchell, Small Opera songs are mixed with tenderness, existential feelings, and inquisitive observations. Small Opera is set to release his new album, The Natural Kindness, in the fall of 2025. The new record explores ideas of coherence, family, community and aging. 

Rhys Fielding is a Vancouver-based singer-songwriter. Growing up on Vancouver Island, Rhys was highly influenced by elements of nature, and her music emulates the parallels of human emotion and the natural world. Expressing deep feeling through sound, her songs are raw, vulnerable, haunting, and relatable, putting words to the messy reality of the human experience and the grief that comes with the gift of feeling.

The 2nd Floor Gastown offers Live Music on Thursdays - Sundays, open during Dinner Service from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Guests may seat for both sets depending on availability and manager discretion.
