The trio formed in the summer of 2021, playing pop-up gigs at Locarno Beach for the love of great
music, and has been together ever since, playing clubs and festivals all over B.C.
Our brand of contemporary jazz is based on standards made famous by writers and performers that we
know and love. Our music takes these wonderful compositions a step further: we alter form and feel,
and bring new ideas and mindsets to the music, making it our own. The trio’s repertoire is forever
expanding, and includes pieces by Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Lester Bowie, and Chet Baker, as
well as Miles, Coltrane, Cannonball, Billy Strayhorn, and the composers of the Great American Songbook
including music from today and undoubtably tomorrow.
Norm Quinn (flugelhorn) is a veteran of the Vancouver scene, educated at Douglas College, Humber

the Mud Bay Blues Band, and Chris Noel’s Burning House, and holds down the jazz trumpet chair in
various big bands.
Guenter Schulz (guitars) is a master of styles from jazz to country, noise to pop. Educated in Hamburg,
Guenter has worked around the world as a guitarist, composer, and producer. He currently plays with
Lisa Dunn and the tribute band Zappastrophe.
David Oli Shakur (bass) drives the bus with solid time and musicality. Dave brings a background in jazz,
